Chipeta Day
September 4, 2010
Join History Colorado for the annual Chipeta Day celebration. Admission to the Indian Market and museum are free all day, so bring the family. Activities include:
7 a.m. – 3 p.m. PLEIN AIR ART EVENT
“Honor the Traditions.” Come make art and win prizes
10 a.m. Jemez Pueblo Dancers
Performing the Buffalo, Eagle, Butterfly dances & Ute Mt. Ute drum
Noon “The Indian Picture Opera”
A film documentary by Edward Curtis. (50 minutes)
1:30 p.m. Indian Film “Voices of the Land”
Interviews with a Southern Ute elder and native Hawaiians. It explores why certain places are considered to be sacred and how wilderness can reconnect us to our place in the larger scheme of things. (21 minutes)
4 p.m. Jemez Pueblo Dancers
Performing the Buffalo, Eagle, Butterfly dances & Ute Mt. Ute drum
5 p.m. Buffalo Feast
Donated by the Northern Ute Tribe, Fort Duchesne Utah
